I wanted to start a band in 1981. We were going to be called Silent Death but the bass player’s mom would not let her son join with that name so it became Silent Doom. We had about 3 pracs and that was it. Flash down the road to about 30 or so years later. I am now and old man who hardly gets off the couch or out of the art studio. I’m thinking, “what about that dream of starting a band?” so I went back to taking guitar lessons (first time in about 30 years too) I found the new creative outlet to be motivating, but I am still very shy and can not imagine getting this band going, but this year I will jump in the deep end and try it again. Why? because being old is one thing but acting old is another. Besides, I have the best drummer in town to back me and I can’t wait to see where this thing goes. I have my guitars I have collected over the years I can’t wait to get them working. First up this year is walking and getting in shape (I’ll need the stamina to keep up with the other guys) my playing has improved some. Then again some days are just about coffee and making plans. I like those too. Every day can be fun, and this year should be more fun than last year. Like Muddy Water’s said, “I’m Ready as I can be, I’m ready for you, I hope you’re ready for me…” Hello 2012!
